In 1982, four stalwarts in mountaineering Sri B P Singh, Sri A R Paladhi, Sri V S Shastri and Sri Krishnan came together to lay foundation of the club with the vision to provide a platform to adventure lovers and carving them into new generations of mountaineers. AAROHI is among few non-commercial organizations in India whose sole aim is to carry out hardcore mountaineering activities in Himalayas as well as Nepal and Chotanagpur Plateau. "Love Swell to Conquer" is the motto of this club.

Since its inception, AAROHI has been achieving new heights and new horizons, and has gained technical expertise in rock climbing and ice climbing by scaling difficult Himalayan giants. AAROHI's achievements include successful ascent on 22 technically challenging Himalayan peaks, including first successful Indian civilian ascents of Mt. Rudugaira (5819 m) and Mt. Kalanag (6316 m).

Apart from these extra-ordinary achievements in the Himalaya, AAROHI orgnise rock climbing course every year at several locations in the Chotanagpur region such as Ayodhya Hills, Susunia Hills, Parshwanath Hill and Jonha Falls.

AAROHI has always been focused on the social activities as well. It's contribution includes participation in help and relief activities, rescue operations and other causes like civil defence training.
AAROHI believes that adherence to it's core values is the main contributor to it's success. We believe in open, transparent culture with no hurdles of formal membership criteria's. We are open to all mountain lovers who wish to excel in the mountaineering sports. All members are encouraged to undergo professional training in premier mountaineering schools such as Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (Uttarkashi) and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Darjeeling). It has been tradition of the AAROHI that senior members infuse knowledge, skill and AAROHI values to the new generation of climbers. This has helped AAROHI create generations of mountaineers of the highest quality.

As the organization continues to mature under the leadership of Sri B P Singh, the founder members are confident that AAROHI will achieve new heights in the field of mountaineering and adventure sports.

In 2004 we have started its child group "GiriVenture" based in mumbai to explore Sahyadri, Lenyadri and Western Ghats. It contains Rugged cliffs, steep ramparts, majestic rocks, mesmerizing views, beautiful mountain tops, imposing and formidable mighty forts and peaks are the elements of Sahyadris. Glimpse of the legendary history of Maharashtra is offered by the forts constructed by the indomitable people of the land. Sahyadris can't be portrayed without referring the young distinct leader 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj' who galvanized a simple message to challenge the mighty Mughals of Delhi. Shivaji, the son of the Bhosle's, the master of guerilla strategies and mountain combats, the supreme fort architect built over 180 new forts in a short span of 35 years.

Sahyadris form the northern division of the Western Ghats (One of the two biodiversity hotspots in India). It runs parallel to the Arabian Sea for 640 km (North to South) in spacious width of 10-20 km (East to West). Sahyadris offer both easy and difficult climbs for trekkers and mountaineers and gives opportunity to come closer to the Mother Nature.
